Update on Amethyst

Many of you may be wondering what is going on with my book Amethyst. Well I finally have an answer for you! Amethyst was original written and put on the market throught the blurb website but I decided to take it down. I firmly believe that Amethyst was ok but it had so much potential as a book that I had to do it over. I plan alot of changes to the book and will not put it for sale till i am moderately satisfied with it. I want to add way more details and make it more then just a cover story. I also want to change the cover and some of the inside layout. I dont have an official release date just yet and I will not for a while because I firmly believe that good writing can not be rushed. I was reminded by a dear friend however that nothing is perfect so I will remember that while I do the reconstruction of this book.

A Preview of The Dark SIde

Here is my favorite poem from the entire collection. It was really hard to choice which was mmy favorite because i truly love all of them. This has to be my favorite poem because its more optimistic then the rest of the poems. All of the poems tend to be dark and filled with sadnes, hurt and anger. I love this poem because of the message behind it. It says that it is okay to feel pain and lost and hatred, because in the end if and when you stand on your own you will be ok.

Cast Me Away

Throw Me like I'm Nothing

Walk on me like the ground beneath your feet

Look past me towards the wall

Ignore me, live your life without me

And I'll do the same

You can cast me away

But I will still be here

Just not in your world anymore

I will hold my head up high

I will walk with renown strength

Because I don't have the weight of you on my shoulders

Gone is the big boulder

I am more

I am free

I will soar

Maybe forever without thee

If you like this poem then go and buy the collection in blurb.com. Just search: sashalious

The Dark Side

While working on the book Amethyst, I decided out of thin air to write a collection of poems. I did not want it to be a cheery, nice, all about rainbows type of collection, I wanted something that nobody would think I wrote. That is how I got the title. I tried to take a negative spin on everything and let that inspire me to write my poems. During the time period that I was writing this, I was going through social problems just like an other teenager in high school. I used my "hardships" to inspire me. The collection is composed of 11 poems. I believe that each poem tells a story, no matter how dark. The pictures and the poems, when put together, have a message behind it. That is why I, as the author, love this collection. I believe that if you write stories or poems or any type of literture, it should tell some type of story or teach a lesson. The Dark Side comes out April 2013 along with Amethyst.

My Inspiration for Writing Amethyst

It came during the summer of 2012. I was at my mother's vacation house in Guyana, laying on my bed. I was daydreaming about what would happen if a fight broke out in my school lunchroom and someone got stabbed. Some drama on a Degrassi kind of level. So I got to thinking and the daydreaming turnt into a story in my head and I decided to write it down. When I read over the fight scene, I figured that this would make a decent story, so I got serious about making it into a decent story. The road to writing this book was not easy nor did I do it alone. I had help from family and friends. Even though it took longer then I thought to finish it, i'm happy with the outcome. My one hope is that other people like it also.

My Inspiration For Writing Books

I believe that my inspiration for writing books come from my overactive imagination. To wind down or just to escape reality for a while I like to think "What if..." I make up stories in my head simply to do it. Hardly do i ever write my stories down. I love reading and I take books very seriously. I like to take a character out of its place in the story and replace it with myself. If it wasn't for my imagination i wouldn't even like creating stories. Stories are an important thing to have in life. My belief that stories are the wheels of life help my desire of being apart of that.

People are also my inspiration. I love when I get positve feedback from people when they read my work.I feel happy and accomplished. For examples, my dad. He loves reading the stories I make up and He will always be on my dedication page first and formost.

I am a striver, overachiever and that drives me to do what few people at my age have done. I would have loved to be younger and came out with a brillant book but that hasnt happy. I am perfectly happy at my age striving to do what I am doing now. My ultimate goal is to achieve wrting a book before I go to college and get a good review.

First Book: Amethyst

Posted by shaniqua.norville on December 25, 2012 at 12:45 AM Comments comments (0)

The first book in the Average Books Series is Amethyst. Its about a girl who falls in love after tragic events in her life. The idea for this book came to me when I was in Guyana over the summer. I was staying at my mother's house and I just started daydreaming. ( I have a vivid imagination) and I thought that this would make a great book so I started writing out what was happening in my head. As time went on I became serious about writing this and making it into a real book so I started outlining. I propose that this book will be done in Febraury 2013. I don;t want to extend the time but if I have to I will. Let's hope this book is good and a lot of people read it.:)
